It gives me great pleasure to provide a letter of recommendation for Mr. John Sugrue. I first met Mr. Sugrue when he volunteered with his son at Life Rolls On Foundation’s West Coast Golf Tournament in Malibu, CA. A dedicated worker, Mr. Sugrue supervised one of our on-course activities and awarded prizes with his son to our golfers. What was especially memorable about Mr. Sugrue, however, was the reason that he volunteered...he explained that he wanted to teach his son about the importance of “giving back” and the value of helping to make a meaningful difference in the lives of others.

Since that event, Mr. Sugrue has continued to volunteer for Life Rolls On Foundation. Last summer, he even presented Life Rolls On with the opportunity to work with him professionally. As an Event Producer, he and his team produced our They Will Surf Again 25th Event Anniversary at Zuma Beach. Thanks to Mr. Sugrue’s leadership, professionalism, creativity and attention to detail, this event was a rousing success and a positive experience for our clients, Board of Directors, donors, celebrity guests and media. Mr. Sugrue helped negotiate exceptional pricing on our behalf and ensured that every part of the event exceeded our expectations.

Mr. Sugrue’s kindness and selflessness never cease to amaze me. For our largest fundraising event of the year – a black tie gala at the Kodak Theatre Grand Ballroom – Mr. Sugrue obliged our request to donate 500 luxury magazines for our goodie bags. Though the request was made at the last minute and Mr. Sugrue was on the other side of town, he not only secured the magazines for us, but took time out of his busy day to deliver them to our offices during rush hour traffic! Truly, he has the patience of a Saint and a heart made of gold.

Life Rolls On Foundation is a non-profit organization dedicated to improving the quality of life for young people affected by spinal cord injury and uses action sports as a platform to inspire infinite possibilities despite paralysis. Its signature program, They Will Surf Again, is an award-winning series of bi-coastal events that empower paraplegics and quadriplegics to experience the freedom of mobility by surfing a wave with the assistance of adaptive surfboards and dedicated volunteers. Through quality of life programs and spinal cord injury awareness campaigns, LRO proudly impacts the lives of more than 100,000 people each year.
